Barrie Landry is an innovative and forward thinking philanthropist focused on the empowerment of women and girls around the world. She was one of the original eight women who helped to build the Maranyundo School in Nyamata, Rwanda and currently sits on their Board. Barrie is a former board member and development chair of Mother Caroline Academy & Education Center in Dorchester, MA and presently sits on their Board of Overseers.

She was also an angel donor for Invest in Girls.  Barrie is a lead supporter of the Boston based UNICEF Children First Speaker Series, a supporter of UNICEF’s Lady Health Worker program in Pakistan, and an early investor in the UNICEF Bridge Fund.  Most recently, Barrie has used her talents, resources, and interest to help fund the Graduate-Level Child Protection Program at Harvard University School of Public Health.  This very first of its kind joint project between UNICEF and Harvard will help to professionalize the Child Protection sector and as a result, will impact the lives of millions of children who are vulnerable to abuse and exploitation around the world.

Barrie graduated from the LEAD BOSTON class of 1988.  She serves on the boards of both the St. Boniface Haiti Foundation and Refuge Point, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of refugees through resettlement, stabilization, and self-reliance. She also currently serves as Vice-Chair of UNICEF USA’s New England Regional Board, as co-chair of the UNICEF Children First Speaker Series, and is a member of UNICEF USA’s National Board.  Barrie is also an overseer for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Barrie has 3 children and 9 grandchildren and lives in Boston.
